We are back again at our rehab house in Prairie Village. Today we are taking a look what we need to do to the poorly designed room addition.
The room itself is not bad. Great size.
But as we looked at a few weeks ago, one wall is almost completely rotted out and needs to be replaced. And all the windows and siding needs replaced, so this gives us the opportunity to go back with larger windows for more light. And the door to the patio also needs to be replaced, giving us the opportunity to put in french doors.
Now what we don’t talk about in the video is the smell. Literally, 20 plus dogs were living in the house and scratching at the door to get outside and when no one would let them out, well, this was the room of choice for their restroom. We had initially hoped that we could just take up the carpet and pad and replace it, but looking back to 2010, we can tell you that the carpet and pad didn’t cut it. As the flooring underneath was basically 2 layers of plywood, we removed 100% of that and installed new.
Checkback next week for the next installment on this Prairie Village home where we replaced the full roof and gutters, plus all the windows, the doors and the siding. If you have a home that needs this much work, and you just don’t want to spend the time or the money, another option is to sell the home.
It was great not having to go in and clean up that unholy mess and worry about disposing of everything. I hope you guys make a good sale on the property, I’ll be only too happy to refer you to others.
Thank you, Scott, that house has been a stone around my neck for the past ten months. I’m so glad that your mom friended me on FB and got things rolling, I’ve had a lot of deaths in my family in the past seventeen months,(my father, my estranged husband, and my only sibling–my brother. I have been swamped trying to deal with it all simultaneously. You guys took me by the hand and drug me through what needed to be done, and I appreciate that.
