Chris and Patty grew up in this house in Overland Park and over the years as their parents aged the home grew more in need of repair. This past year when their remaining parent passed, they wanted to sell their inherited Overland Park House. They were getting it cleaned out and reached out to us during that process.
When we first went to visit, we found it interesting that we had bought, renovated and sold the house next door about 10 years ago. That owner was also selling an inherited home.
Patty shared with us that they “were very relieved because we had so much emotional attachment to the house that it would have been hard for us to sell in a typical manner. ” In fact they asked us for time to get the home cleaned out as they were going through all the items left behind and remembering.
Then when we got closer to closing and ran into a few hiccups at the title company, we had to step back and reassess. Chris shared with us that they could tell “he (Donald Tucker) was honest. He empathized with what we were going through and how hard it was to let our family home go. He stayed on top of things as they occurred and it felt like doing business with a trusted friend. He was very reassuring and explained every step of the process. ”
Ultimately we were able to get the home purchased and a couple of weeks into getting the renovations made the country was thrown into lockdown with social distancing and stay at home orders to work through causing a few more delays as we figured that out. But in the end we had a great finished product.
As a side note, the house next door we bought, renovated and sold about 10 years ago.
